Congress General Secretary and Uttar Pradesh East In-charge Priyanka Gandhi on Saturday continued her attacks on Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh Government. Slamming the state government over the agrarian crisis, Priyanka also racked up the Chief Minister over the issue faced by farmers across the state.

She also raised questions on the efficacy of farm and loan waiver schemes of the government. Taking to Twitter, Priyanka Gandhi said, ‘Farmers grow crops, do not get the price. Drought-famine happens, but they do not get compensations. Farmers of Bundelkhand are getting threats of confiscation every day’.

‘What kind of peasant and loan waiver schemes is it in which farmers have no option but to suicide’ she added in the tweet. She along with her tweet cited a media report about five farmers have committed suicide in as many days in Bundelkhand’s Banda.

It should be noted that Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East had last week upped the political temperature of the state after she was detained on Friday by the Uttar Pradesh Police while she was on her way to Sonbhadra to meet the family of those killed in July 17 firing incident.

Uttar Pradesh Police, citing the imposition of Section 144, taken Priyanka Gandhi into detention. She was later taken to Chunar Guest House, Mirzapur from Varanasi. However, the next day she met the victims of Sonbhadra firing case and announced that Congress party would give 10 lakh each of victims families.
