Congress General Secretary and Party’s In-charge of Uttar Pradesh East Priyanka Gandhi is likely to visit Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s Parliamentary Constituency Varanasi during her Four-day visit to Uttar Pradesh to assess and stock the party poll preparations for the Upcoming Lok Sabha Polls that are due for April-May this year.

Party insider familiar with the Development told media on the condition of anonymity, ‘She will visit the state this month, and this could happen before the Congress Working Committee meets in Ahmedabad on February 28’

Another Congress leader said that small roadshows have been planned during her visit to the parliamentary constituencies to meet block- and booth-level workers to seek their views about potential candidates for general elections.

Congress has called a working committee meeting on Feb 28 which was earlier slated for Feb 26.

During Gandhi’s visit to the Varanasi, sources in the Congress have also revealed, she will be visiting the families of CRPF jawans from the state killed in the Pulwama terror attack. She is likely to visit Kumbh prior to reaching Varanasi.

Earlier she along with Jyotiraditya Scindia and Congress President Rahul Gandhi held the massive road in Lucknow on February 11. The cadre is energized and charged up after meeting Priyankaji and Scindiaji for three days. They heard each and every party worker. The party is now fully prepared to go into the electoral battlefield with full might,” said Prakash Joshi, All India Congress Committee secretary, UP.

However, this would be the first time that Priyanka Gandhi would step out of the Congress Home Turf – Amethi and Rae Bareli. For the Upcoming Lok Sabha Polls, Priyanka Gandhi has been given the responsibility of 41 seats while Scinda will look after poll affairs of 39 Seats.

Responding about the speculations of Priyanka Gandhi visit’s to PM Modi Constituency, UP BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak said, “That’s wonderful. This would provide her knowledge of how under Modi, Kashi is progressing like the rest of the country. It would also make her realise the follies of her family, which ran this country for over 60 years. Lastly, a Kashi visit would also convince her why Modi will return not just as Kashi MP but also as the country’s PM.”
