 Priyanka Gandhi had on Friday in a surprise move visited Amethi – the parliamentary seat of her Brother Rahul Gandhi. Congress General Secretay for UP East held hours-long discussion with District Top Leaders and gave the final touch Poll Strategy for her Brother and party President Rahul Gandhi, who is seeking reelection from the parliamentary seat.

A District Functionary from the party told media that Priyanka Gandhi reviewed the poll preparations and issued new directives for the polls that are slated for May 6 in the parliamentary seat.

The meet that went for over 5 hours, SP Former MP from Santkabir Nagar Bhalchandra Yadav, Vijay Pasi, who had contested Vidhan Sabha election on SP ticket last time, and Swaminath Yadav who has contested Vidhan Sabha election thrice joined the Indian National Congress in the party Office situated at Guariganj of the District.

While she also directed that the Party leaders in the state to reach out to the voters of the Constituency to ensure Congress President Rahul Gandhi with a huge margin.

Rahul Gandhi who is seeking another term from the Amethi Parliamentary Seat had on April 11 filed his nomination papers for the seat. Amethi in the past has been represented by Sonia Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi.

In 2014 General Elections, Bharatiya Janata Party fielded Smriti Irani against Rahul Gandhi who gave a tough fight to Congress President. Just like last Lok Sabha Polls, Bharatiya Janata Party has named Irani from the seat. However, BSPSP Grand Alliance has not fielded its Candidate.

Later in the day, Priyanka Gandhi held a Roadshow in Kanpur to galvanize support for Former Union Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal who seeking election from Kanpur Lok Sabha Seat. The seat is currently held by BJP’s MM Joshi who has been replaced with Satyadev Pachauri for polls 2019.

80 seats of the state will go to polls in all seven phases starting from April 11 till May 19. The 16 Lok Sabha Seats of including Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Bijnor, Aligarh, Mathura, Buldansharhr, among others have already voted in first two phases of Voting.

Phase-III of Voting is slated for April 23. Amethi Parliamentary Seat will go to polls on May 6.

Counting of votes will take place on May 23, four days after the final round of Polling.
