Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East Priyanka Gandhi on Thursday slammed Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government over the deteriorating law and order situation in the State. Attacking the BJP-led UP Government over crimes committed against women, Gandhi said when will the government provide security to them.
Priyanka Gandhi took to Twitter and said, ‘Innocents are being brutalized in UP. Women are being pushed into a dreadful environment. The man is being burnt alive. But the people in power are unable to see anything. When will the UP Government start taking responsibility for the safety of women and girls?’.

It comes on the backdrop of media reports highlighted a minor girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh and other reports highlighting the crimes in the State.
Earlier to this, other opposition parties including Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) also slammed the Uttar Pradesh Government over the issue.
Earlier on June 17, BSP Supremo Mayawati slammed the Uttar Pradesh Government and said, ‘The deteriorating law and order situation in UP, as well as the anarchy in relation to the lives and dignity of the sisters and daughters of the society, is a matter of extreme grief and anxiety’.
‘Contrary to government claims, the floods of all kinds of heinous crimes across the state have caused panic among the people’, she said in a tweet.
While earlier to this, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Chief Akhilesh Yadav met State Governor Ram Naik and handed over a memorandum the ‘deteriorating law and order situation’ in the state. He met Governor at Raj Bhawan in the state’s capital.
Expressing concern, Yadav said that it is unfortunate that these incidents are happening, is this how civil society looks like’.
