Amidst months-long speculations about Priyanka Gandhi contesting against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi Parliamentary Seat in the mega battle of ballots, Robert Vadra, husband of newly inducted Gandhi hailed her wife and termed her as an agent of Change. Robert Vadra speaking to reporters said that Priyanka Gandhi is a hardworking person.

Replying to a query from a scribe about speculation that Priyanka Gandhi may contest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Businessman said, ‘People of the Country want a change, and they see it in her (Priyanka) and Congress President Rahul Gandhi, he said while adding that she will work hard.

On asking whether she would be able to pose a good and tough challenge to PM Modi, Vadra replied ‘Of Course’.

However, the party is yet to confirm any possibility, Sources believe it can only happen if SP-BSP Mahagathbandhan chooses not to field anyone and agree back to Priyanka as a common candidate. The idea behind the move is to bind PM Modi in his constituency and effect BJP’s Campaign.

Reacting on the ongoing speculations about Priyanka Gandhi contesting polls, BJP Leader Uma Bharti said her entry to politics will have no impact in the Lok Sabha Polls 2019. She said as quoted by ANI, ‘There will be no impact. People will see her in the same light as they do for the wife of a thief’ Bharti said while training guns towards Robert Vadra’.

Speculations about her contesting the mega battle of ballots were on height ever since she has been appointed as Congress General Secretary. Days after her appointment as UP GS for East, Posters urging Priyanka Gandhi to contest the coming Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi to challenge the Prime Minister Narendra Modi came up in the holy city.

It should be noted that Priyanka Gandhi during her visit to brother Rahul Gandhi‘s parliamentary Seat Amethi in March asserted that ‘she will contest the upcoming National Elections if her party (Congress) wants her to’.

Responding to continuous queries of scribes, the newly appointed General Secretary said, ‘Why Not’. And Suddenly pitched questions towards a reporter even you can contest the upcoming national polls. She added if her party wants her to be in the electoral fray she is ready to be in.

General Elections have already begun from April 11 and would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19.

Uttar Pradesh which has a total of 80 seats will go to polls in all seven phases starting from April 11. The Lok Sabha Seats of – Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Kairana, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat and Bijnor have already voted on April 11.

Varanasi will go to Polls on May 19, in the last phase of elections.
