Puducherry Assembly turned into a dramatic stage when the opposition members staged a walkout on Tuesday afternoon. The leaders are dissatisfied with the Speaker V.P. Sivakolundhu’s functioning.

The opposition members were displeased on the matter that their confidence motion against the Speaker was not considered by the government. The legislators of the Puducherry assembly have alleged that the Speaker is acting a political manner without any partisanship.

Speaking to the ANI, All India NR Congress President and former Chief Minister, N
Rangaswamy said, “Speaker’s conduct is partisan in manner. We had asked the Chief Minister to consider notice but he did not give a proper response, so we walked out.”

The former Chief Minister and other AIADMK members have said that the Speaker is acting as an agent of Congress Party. The opposition leaders have previously submitted their notice for moving a “no-confidence” motion against the Speaker to the Puducherry Assembly Secretary.

On Monday, AIADMK members had also staged a walkout to oppose government’s failure in executing developmental and welfare schemes in the region.
