Centre and the Defence Ministry have rejected West Bengal‘s proposal of tableau on Girls’ scheme for this Republic day parade, after analyzing the same in two rounds of meeting by expert panel.
Issuing a statement, the Ministry of Defence said, “The tableau proposal of West Bengal government was examined by the expert committee in two rounds of meetings. The tableau proposal of the West Bengal government was not taken forward for further consideration by the committee after deliberations in the second meeting.”
Expert committee examines the tableau proposals on the basis of theme, concept, design and visual impact before making its recommendations. The Ministry in its statement said, “Due to time constraints arising out of the overall duration of the parade, only a limited number of tableaux can be shortlisted for participation in the parade.”
Out of 56 proposals, 22 tableau have been shortlisted for the Republic Day parade. The tableau that have been shortlisted will feature 16 states, six central ministries and union territories. 32 proposals were sent to Defence ministry from various states and union territories.
The Ministry of Defence stated, “Out of these, 22 proposals, comprising 16 states/UTs and six ministries/departments, have finally been short-listed for participation in the Republic Day Parade 2020 after a series of five meetings.”
