Senior Congress party leader P.L. Punia said on Wednesday that, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will take over as the Party Chief by the end of 2017.
He said to a media person that majority of the party people wanted Rahul to take over as the party Chief and that the members wish is likely to be fulfilled by end of 2017. However, there has not been any official confirmation from Sonia Gandhi or any other official of the party.
Rahul Gandhi has been in line to become the party president since a bit of time, however, he has never come forward to claim responsibility. Since the beginning of 2017, Sonia Gandhi has been the front face of all the activities regarding president elections and is leading charge. The same further speculated that Rahul Gandhi might have to wait a little more before he is considered eligible to lead the party as president.
