Congress Working Committee has passed a resolution to promote Rahul Gandhi as the party president. In the meeting, held at Sonia Gandhi’s residence, the committee passed a resolution and decided the date to be 19th December.
19th December 2017 will be the immediate next day of announcement of Gujarat Assembly Elections result. The elections are being seen as the first big assignment for the Congress vice president. In the committee meeting, it was decided that the official formalities will be completed before the Gujarat elections and in a rally, Rahul Gandhi will be officially coronated as the next party president. He will take over the post from Sonia Gandhi, who has held the position for over 19 years.
Recently, in a direction, Election Commission had asked the party to complete its election formalities by end of this year. Earlier, it was speculated that Congress will coronet the next president in a big rally in South India.
