Congress found a new built roadblock in their Karnataka campaign as it’s leaders directed the singer to finish ‘Vande Mataram’ in just one line at an campaigning event at Bantwal, Karnataka. The Bharatiya Janta Party took no time to revert back to this and took the centre stage to criticize the ongoings in the state.

A TV channel aired a video of Rahul showing his watch to K C Venugopal, AICC general secretary and Karnataka in-charge, to suggest that they are running out of time. With the singer having arrived on the dais, Venugopal immediately directed her to finish the song in one line. The video shows Mr Gandhi sitting on a stage with some Congress leaders, including Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Congress in-charge of the state KV Venugopal. The video clip went viral on social media and  the citizens lashed out on the micro blogging site, ‘Twitter’.

The BJP took an aggressive stand on the issue where the AICC president was mocked and frowned upon being a ‘shehzada’ by Sambit Patra. The party President Amit Shah also left no stone unturned while taking on Rahul Gandhi in this quest for the Karnataka elections and said “If Rahul doesn’t have time to respect this song, he should quit politics to uphold the sacrifice of our freedom fighters”

The former Union Minister and Congress leader, Rajeev Shukla, defended the party by dismissing the video as “absolutely false and fake”.

Both the parties are putting up an aggressive fight ahead of the Karnataka elections and are pouncing at every new found error their respective counterparts commit. The Karnataka elections are due on May 12. Votes will be counted on May 15.
