Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday slammed Bharatiya Janata Party saying that the party use money and power to topple the opposition governments in the state.

Speaking to reporters in Ahmedabad, where he appeared in the Court, Rahul Gandhi said, ‘The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) uses money and power to topple the state government, You saw it in Goa, in North-East and now they are trying to do same in Karnataka’.

He added the reality is that they have money and power and they bring down governments by using the same.

Rahul Gandhi made the remark in Ahmedabad after appearing in the court in connection with a defamation suit filed against him. The Ahmedabad Court had granted bail to Former Congress President in the case.

Rahul Gandhi’s latest salvo came on the backdrop of the poltical crisis in Karnataka and Goa. In Goa, 10 out of 15 Lawmakers from the party shifted to loyalties while the tussle still continues in Karnataka.

Responding to a query by a scribe about the defamation suit, Rahul Gandhi said, ‘I more I am attacked, more I will fight with love, but I will not budge from the path of truth.

Earlier on Wednesday, United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi led protest ‘Save Democracy’ outside the Parliament against the crisis in Karnataka and Goa. Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi were seen along with other lawmakers who were holding Save Democracy Banners.

Speaking to ANI, Rahul Gandhi said, ‘We are protesting over Karnataka and Goa Issue’. Congress Parliamentarians Shashi TharoorAdhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Anand Sharma, Gaurav Gogoi were seen in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Parliament complex raising slogans.

In the meantime what can be seen as a breather for Congress, the Supreme Court on Friday ordered Assembly Speaker to maintain status quo in connection with the resignation of 10 rebel MLAs of Congress and JD-S who tendered their resignation on Thursday. The Top Court Bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said that the Court will hear the matter again on Tuesday, July 16.

The 13-months old coalition government suffered a huge setback on Saturday last week when 11 MLAs from CongressJD(S) ruling coalition tendered their resignation. And thereafter political episode and drama started in Karnataka. Later on, many other MLAs also tendered their resignation taking the tally to 16 MLAs till now.
