Day after EC gave a green signal to PM Narendra Modi in two more cases of poll code violation, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday accused the Poll Body of being “biased” towards the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP Chief Amit Shah.

Congress Chief said that poll commission is on the straight lines when it comes to the matters of BJP and PM Modi. He further said that Central Institutions will have a negative effect in future.

He added, it is completely biased towards the opposition. Congress President Rahul Gandhi made the remark while addressing responding to a query by a scribe about ‘clean chits’ to PM Modi and Amit Shah.

Gandhi further slamming the BJP of misusing Central Institutions. Rahul Gandhi said, “The style of functioning of Modi and the RSS is to hold the institutions. It is visible on the Supreme Court, Election Commission, Reserve Bank of India and everywhere else” as quoted by IANS.

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks came after the Poll Commission in recent days has granted 5 ‘clean chits’ to PM Modi over his election speeches. EC said that PM Narendra Modi speeches in Latur, Wardha Barmer do not violate the model code of conduct. The Poll Commission had on Thursday also cleared PM over ‘Nuclear bomb for Diwali’ comment which he made in Barmer district of Rajasthan.

EC’s green signal to PM Modi came after the Supreme Court had on May 3 directed the Election Commission to decide before May 6, on the complaint against PM Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah over poll code violation. The Top Court order came on the plea filed by Congress MP Sushmita Dev seeking the court’s direction over ‘Inaction’ of the Poll Commission.

Congress in a run-up to the national elections 2019 had moved to the Poll Commission with multiple complaints against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah. However, till now, EC gave 5 clean chits to PM Modi and two such to BJP Chief Amit Shah.

General Elections 2019 is being across seven phases starting April 11 to May 19. The remaining 169 Lok Sabha seats will go to polls in remaining three phases.

Counting of the votes will be held on May 23.
