While addressing the ‘Pratyeka Hoda Bharosa Sabha’ organised by the Congress in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, Rahul Gandhi directly attacked Narendra Modi. He questioned the gathering that, what kind of a Hindu was Modi, who did not keep up his promises taken in front of the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirupati of granting Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

He said that Narendra Modi had promised that once in power he would grant the SCS to Andhra Pradesh, but he did not keep up his promise. He further added that SCS was not a gift but the state’s right, which was given to Andhra Pradesh by former PM Manmohan Singh and nobody could deny it. He also promised that once Congress comes to power in 2019, its first work of action will be granting special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

Rahul Gandhi also targeted two parties, Telugu Desam and the lone opposition YSR Congress, saying that these parties were not speaking for the SCS because they were afraid. He alleged Narendra Modi to put pressure on these parties and force them to be quite. Several parties in the countries are supporting the demand for SCS to AP but two parties of the state are not, because of the fear and pressure of Modi, he said.

Rahul added that Congress will fight for the right of Andhra Pradesh, if Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy din’t fight for SCS.

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav, CPI leaders Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, D Raja, DMK leader Elangovan, RJD leader Jayaprakash Narayan Yadav, Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh and others were also present for the sabha.
