Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Railways has stated his optimism saying that the railway ecosystem is capable enough to create 10 lakh jobs in next one year, he was speaking at India Economic Summit of the World Economic Forum.

The statement of Piyush Goyal comes at a time when the railway sector is facing huge criticism for the series of derailments and the recent accident at the mumbai local train station. The senior central leadership has recently handed over the railway ministry to Piyush Goyal, replacing Suresh Prabhu.

Speaking at the event, Piyush Goyal said that the key to create jobs in the railway ecosystem is to monetise the real estate assets under the department. He also added that fast tracking of some of the ongoing investments in railway can also help create jobs immediately.

Speaking on the safety measures being implemented to make railway more secure, he added that the government has been looking to address this issue immediately and ensuring passengers security alone can reate over 2 lakh jobs for the country people. Along with that, if all the related sectors are properly optimised, the ecosystem can see over 1 million recruitments in next 1 year. However, he refrained to add on to if the government has any concrete plans to recruit such a high number of individuals in such a short time frame.

According to Piyush Goyal, the country was long known for stuffs like Ayurveda, Yoga, Bollywood and Cricket, however, the current generation of the country has changed the scenario. Indians are now known for their software skills and India as a whole country is being looked at as a great investment prospective. Adding that the technological generation needs innovations such as bullet trains, he termed people’s criticism of bullet trains as unfortunate and added that the intrduction of Bullet trains will add a new chapter in the economic development of the country and will further establish India on the world map.
