Congress leader Raj Babbar took to rubbish away the rumors of his resignation as the Party President in Uttar Pradesh. He said that the party designations are merely symbolic.
The former actor and politically active leader, said, “I don’t know from where this rumour is doing the rounds. In any case all of us in Congress are party workers, posts and positions are symbolic.”
Pramod Tiwari, another Congress leader, termed the news of his resignation as bogus. He cleared the air regarding his resignation by saying, “I want to clear the issue. Raj Babbar has not resigned from his post of Uttar Pradesh Congress President.”
The election campaign in Uttar Pradesh had come under a heated scanner after Congress performed badly during the bypolls for Gorakhpur and Phulpur Lok Sabha seats.
However, Babbar told ANI that Congress is working on new arrangements. He added that if a new position is given by party president, he will take it up and work towards 2019.
To the questions on resignation rumours over Congress’ performance, Babbar said, “Whatever I have to say, I will inform it to my party president. The same (Congress’ defeat) has been happening and is happening.”
