BJP releases last list of 6 candidates for Rajasthan Assembly elections

On the last day of filing nomination for the Rajasthan Assembly elections, the BJP has released its final list of candidates today.  In its fifth and last list of candidates for the upcoming assembly election in Rajasthan, the party has fielded State Minister Yunus Khan Congress leader Sachin Pilot from Tonk.

Khan is a sitting MLA from Deedwana constituency of Nagaur district.

After the Congress fielded Pilot in Tonk, the BJP replaced Mehta, who figured in the first list issued on November 11. Khan is the lone Muslim candidate to have found a place in the list. Earlier, BJP had denied candidature to Habibur Rahman who then quit the party and joined Congress.

BJP drops two candidates:

The BJP dropped two candidates— Mehta and Shankarlal Khiradi who were earlier given tickets from Tonk and Kherwara seat respectively.

Both Pilot and Khan will file their nomination papers today, the last day of filing nomination papers.

Assembly elections in Rajasthan will be held in a single phase on December 7. The BJP had won a majority of 163-seats in the 2013 assembly elections.

Scrutiny of the nominations will begin on November 20 while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is November 22, 2018.

The names of the six candidates with their constituencies are:

  1. Kotputli- Mukesh Goyal
  2. Behror- Mohit Yadav
  3. Karauli- O.P Saini
  4. Tonk- Yunus Khan (in place of Ajit Singh )
  5. Kekdi- Rajendra Vinayaka
  6. Deedwana- Jeetendra Singh Jodha
  7. Kheevsar- Ramchandra Utta
  8. Kherwara- Nanalal Aahri (in place of Shankarlal Khiradi)
