The Bhartiya Janta Party on Monday complained to Rajasthan Chief Electoral Officer Anand Kumar against Rajsamand collector Shyam Lal Gurjar and Nathwara returning officer Nisha for giving a clean chit to Congress leader C P Joshi for his alleged controversial ‘Casteist’ remark. The party also party also the Chief Electoral Officer to remove both the officials as they won’t be “able to conduct an unbiased election”.

Congress MP CP Joshi from Bhilwara last month while addressing a rally said ‘ BJP leaders like Narendra Modi and BJP MP Uma Bharti is from ‘lower caste;’ and has no knowledge of Hinduism. The remark sparked a controversy and BJP lodge a complaint with EC. EC issued a notice to CP Joshi and ask him to furnish his answer.

BJP State Chief, Nahar Singh told media “We have written to the CEO urging him to remove the collector and the returning officer (Nisha), who investigated the matter. The Nathwara returning officer gave a clean chit to CP Joshi without even hearing the complainant. They should have heard our argument before giving a clean chit to him. We have told the CEO that they can’t conduct an unbiased election and hence should be removed,”

The Rajasthan Assembly elections are slated for December 7, while counting of votes will take place on December 11 with other states assembly elections.
