The Rajasthan Congress Pradesh election committee, headed by Kumari Selja has sought recommendations for candidates from the 44- member committee. The names of the candidates are likely to be announced by October 22.
She has also said that the recommendations of the committee will be taken into account before finalizing the candidates.
While talking to media, Ms. Selja said,” We are meeting every member in person to seek advice. We want to be sure about the ‘winnability’ of candidates from all the angles. We will finalize the candidates’ list”, as quoted by ET.
A senior party official also said that “If the recommendation of PEC members matches the names proposed by the secretary in charge, the party will finalize those tickets”.
The results of the ground survey will also be considered while zeroing in on the names of the candidates, a Congress leader said.
Meanwhile, the opinion polls have predicted a clear win for the Congress. The state usually selects from the binary (Congress and BJP) after every five years.
The polls in Rajasthan will be held on December 7.
