A 69-year-old businessman who was born in Sikar, Rajasthan and is settled in Mumbai, is in the electoral fray in upcoming Rajasthan Elections, Wahid Chauhan is known as a social reformer, who had started a School for Girls in his hometown Sikar way back in the 1990s.

Sikar is a small town in the National Highway that Connects Bikaner to Agra.

Chauhan, -who was denied a ticket by Congress- is in the fray from the newly launched Rashtriya Loktantrik Party started by BJP ‘rebel’ and an Independent MLA Hanuman Beniwal.

The Jat face – Hanuman Beniwal has made an alliance with small parties and with Ghanshyam Tiwari’s Bharat Vahini Party to contest on 40 seats in the upcoming Rajasthan State Elections.

This time more than 56 registered (Unrecognised) parties are in the fray to unbalance the BJP, and Congress tally.

But, Wahid Chauhan is not contesting for the first time. In fact, he was also in the electoral race in 2013 assembly elections on National Congress Party’s ticket but lost. But the situation is different this time, he claims. It is a different equation this time. I am getting the support of Jats this time. They voted for the BJP in the last election,” Chowhan said.

Wahid is well known across faiths for his works. His College now Called Excellence Knowledge City for Girls, and located on a six-hectare campus, it offers free education, including books and uniforms, from nursery to graduation. It draws students from both, Muslim and Hindu Communities.

Sikar has a total electorate of around 2.7 lakhs, where Muslims, Jats, and SCs constitute about 1.7.’  Since Chauhan is contesting from the different outfit this time, so its electoral impact cannot be assessed but definitely, he is creating a buzz’ said a Jaipur based Political Analyst.

The Assembly Polls in the state is Scheduled for December 7. Rajasthan is one of the five states where assembly elections are slated polls ahead of Lok Sabha Elections.
