The Election Commission of India on Saturday issued a notice to Rajasthan Congress Leader CP Joshi over his controversial ‘casteist’ remark. The Election Commission has asked the leader to furnish his answer by Sunday Evening.  Earlier on Friday, Bhartiya Janta Party has approached the Election Commission with a complaint against the leader.

Former MP from Bhilwara, Joshi on Friday apologized for his remark after Congress President Rahul Gandhi rebuked and ask him to apologize for his comment. The Congress President also advised the party leaders to avoid making such comments that hurt the sentiments of the society. However, the ruling party has rejected Joshi’s prompt apology and said that the comment has insulted the sentiments and culture of India.

Congress Leader on Thursday while addressing an election rally said ‘ BJP leaders like Narendra Modi and BJP MP Uma Bharti is from ‘lower caste;’ and has no knowledge of Hinduism. BJP was quick to react on the ‘comment’

Earlier this week, MP Congress Chief Kamal Nath has also been in news for his alleged video about Muslim Votes in poll-bound state of Madhya Pradesh.

Reacting on the CP Joshi’s remark BJP Rajasthan Election Convenor Nahar Singh Maheswari said that, The Comment made by the Congress Leader based on caste, section, and religion amounts to the violation of Model Code Of Conduct, therefore we move to the Election Commission with a Complaint.

The Election in the state is scheduled for December 7, while counting will take place on December 11.
