Union home minister, Rajnath Singh has called for ‘unity of purpose’ among the state governments and the central government in order to have a decisive strategy against the growing threat of Naxals. Rajnath Singh was speaking at the opening of a conference for the top officials and chief ministers of states which are affected by Naxals.

Rajnath Singh has called for immediate actions against Naxals to check their activities and stop their growing threat. He also suggested measures to be taken in order to control the finance flowing in Naxal hit areas. Also, he added that the government is working on a proposal to deploy unarmed aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Naxal areas to find their hideouts.

Rajnath Singh also added that the government will not let Naxals succeed in their ambitions to stall the development and shake democracy. This meeting of top officials from state and central governments comes two weeks after the attack in Sukma, which killed 25 paramilitary personnels.

He mentioned that over 12000 people have lost their lives because of naxals in last 20 years. Though he hoped that with improved strategies and mutual cooperation, the government can put a check on their activities and work to eliminate them in the coming time.

Along with the state officials, this meeting is also attended by superintendents of police and district magistrates of 35 districts which are worst hit by naxals. Also, the heads of paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies are present at the meeting.
