Actor-turned-politician and now an MP from Gorakhpur Lok Sabha Seat Ravi Kishan on Friday met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow after registering a big victory in its Lok Sabha Seat.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held the Gorakhpur seat five times since 1998. He had to vacate the seat in 2017 after being appointed as the Chief Minister of the State. It is should be noted that, In the 2018 by-election, Son of Sanjay Nishad, Praveen Nishad of Nishad Party contested on Samajwadi Party ticket with the backing of BSP and defeated BJP‘s, Upendra Shukla.

However, Ravi Kishan in the latest national elections managed to add Gorakhpur in BJP’s kitty. In the recently held national polls, Kishan defeated Mahagathbandhan Candidate Rambhual Nishad with over 3 Lakh votes.

Talking to news agency ANI, Ravi Kishan thanked people of Gorakhpur for giving a mandate and called a ‘victory of truth’. He added, ‘I also want to thank UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP President Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for having belief in me’.

‘Party’s massive victory is the reflection of the fact that from now onwards the caste-based politics is over”, he added.

Ravi Kishan had in 2014 national polls unsuccessfully contested from Jaunpur Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket. The actor later in 2017 joined Bharatiya Janata Party.

The Bharatiya Janata Party in the latest polls has secured 303 seats, 22 more than it got in the 2014 elections. BJP along with its allies, the NDA took it’s tally up to 352 seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. In Uttar Pradesh, BJP along with its ally Apna Dal (S) won 64 Lok Sabha Seats.

While Congress continued its poor performance and improved its tally marginally by 8 to reach 52 seats across all 542 in the 2019 national polls.
