Re-polling recommended for ten booths in Tamil Nadu after complaints in irregularities in the polling conducted on 18th of April.

Tamil Nadu’s Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo recommended re-polling in 10 booths of Tamil Nadu. Eight booths falling under the Dharmapuri constituency and one each under the Triruvallur and Cuddalore constituency have been recommended for re-polling. Re-polling has been recommended in the constituencies after alleged irregularities in the polling booths in elections held on April 18th, as suggested by officials. In the constituencies of Tiruvallur and Dharmapuri re-polling has been recommended for both parliamentary elections and by-polls. By-polls are being conducted at Poonamalle and Paappiredippatti assembly segments respectively. However the dates of the same has not been announced and are expected to be announced soon. Elections for Thirty eight Lok Sabha constituencies and eighteen assembly seats were held on April 18.

Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo said that the state is yet to receive report for complaints of names not included in the voters list in Tamil Nadu. “Based on it, decision for re-polling in kanyakumari will be made,” said Sahoo.

Irregualrities including faulty EVMs, power cuts, missing of names in voters’ list, unawareness of polling officials in the booth leading to unsurety of votes were reported in Chennai at the polling day.
