Bharat Vahini Party (BVP) president Ghanshyam Tiwari said yesterday that the BJP is set to suffer a “historic” defeat in the Rajasthan assembly elections. The former BJP leader was upset with the party for letting down the upper caste people. In an interview he said, “”The Congress is not in a position to form a government and the BJP is set to face a historic defeat in the state. Forming government in Rajasthan would not be possible without the BVP”.

He said his party (BVP) is ready to contest all 200 assembly seats and will emerge the third largest party without which forming a government in Rajasthan will not be possible.

He also claimed that prominent BJP leaders from the upper castes have quit the party. “The BJP has betrayed the people of upper castes and its base vote bank has slipped,” he said, adding that it would affect the BJP’s vote share.

The six time MLA, who is of an RSS background is a prominent face of Brahmin community In Rajasthan. He has also criticized Raje Government on various occasions. Talking on development he cited a study and said, “It is seen that development takes places in states where there is a third political party. States with two political parties have lagged on the development front”.

Regarding the BSP contesting the elections, he said that the vote share of BSP has reduced considerably in the state and it will not make much of a difference..

He had formed the BVP after resigning from the BJP when he got notices for indiscipline by the BJP central leadership.

Polls in Rajasthan and Telangana will be held on December 7. Counting of votes will be taken up together in all the five states on December 11.
