Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Sunday passed a resolution stating that the party will contest the upcoming state polls in Jharkhand as a part Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance). The decision was taken in the one-day long meeting of the party-state executive that held on Sunday.

Speaking to media, RJD Jharkhand in-charge Jay Prakash Yadav confirmed the development. Former Union Minister Yadav, addressing the presser after the conclusion of state executive meeting, said as quoted by ANI, ‘We will fight the state polls in Jharkhand as a part of Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) with our other allies. We are strongly against and condemn the mob lynching by BJP and its partners in the state’.

He added that his party will continue to fight for the rights of oppressed and poor people of the society. He also slammed the BJP-led Central government and accused it of not working for the interest of the people.

Further training the guns, He said his party, RJD, is totally against the amendments made by the government in Right to Information. He further said, ‘RJD demands relief for farmers of the state in the view of prevailing drought situation’.

RJD faced a crushing defeating in the national polls both in Bihar and Jharkhand. In Jharkhand, it had contested one seat in an alliance with Congress, JMM, and JVM.

While in Bihar, it has lost all the 20 contested seats including Misa Bharti who was pitched from Patliputra Seat. The five-party alliance managed to get only one seat of Kishanganj. Dr. Mohammad Jawed of Congress won Kishanganj seat with a margin of 34,466 votes.

The State polls in Jharkhand are slated to be held in November-December this year, where 81 assembly seats are in stake.
