Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Jha on Thursday gave a Zero Hour notice in the Rajya Sabha. RJD leader will raise the issue of floods across the state and country in the Upper House of the Parliament. Heavy rainfall has led to flood situation in states like Assam and Bihar where lakh of people are affected with the deluge.

Over hundreds of National Disaster Management Teams have been deployed in the flood-affected areas of the North-Eastern states and other states like Bihar.

In the meantime, Congress MP Selja Kumari has also given Zero Hour Notice in Rajya Sabha over ‘need for social integration through inter-caste marriages’. While Congress MP, Viplove Thakur has given Zero Hour Notice in Rajya Sabha over “need for new laws in view of frequent building collapses in the country.”

Apart from this, Samajwadi Party MP Vishambhar Prasad Nishad has given Zero Hour Notice in Rajya Sabha over ‘desperation in youths due to unemployment.’ Meantime, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Prasanna Acharya also gave a short duration notice in the Upper House of the Parliament. Acharya will be raising the issue of ‘Agriculture in India: Challenges and Solutions’.

Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader in a statement stated, ‘Lakhs of farmers of this country are confronted with multi-fold problems which are yet to be addressed properly by different government, both at the Centre and state governments’.

The Zero House of the Rajya Sabha refers to the time immediately following the Question Hour, where Parliamentarians can raise issues of great importance without the mandatory 10 days advance notice.

The Session of the Upper House of the Parliament, Rajya Sabha, started from June 20 and will continue till July 26.
