Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) leader and son of former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tez Pratap Yadav resigned as the chief of Rashtriya Janata Dal’s student wing on Thursday claiming that the top authorities of the party did not consider his candidates for the nomination of the seats.

Tez Pratap Singh has headed the post of convener of RJD’s student wing for the last many years and fielded candidate to contest the students union polls of Patna University.

The RJD leader denied attending the press conference he called raising speculation of functioning in the RJD family.

“I am resigning from the post of patron of Chhatra Rashtriya Janata Dal. Those who think I am naive must be naive themselves. I know each minister’s stand in the party,” tweeted Tez Pratap Yadav.

The resignation of Tez Prasad is attributed to the Mahua MLA’s failure to get his close aids as candidates from few seats as against official nominees of the RJD. He went on to justify his demand by saying, that it is students, the youth that represents the country. the youngsters should be given the opportunity to frame the government.

Tez Pratap told a media channel that he has asked Tejashwi and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav to consider two names as candidates as were youngsters. He wanted to press for the candidature of his confidants Angesh Kumar and Chandra Prakash from Sheohar and Jehanabad, respectively.

24 hours later, following the tweet of his resignation, Tez Pratap tweeted congratulating Patna University student leader Gagan Yadav for being appointed as the state president of Chhatra Janata Dal.

The RJD is contesting 20 out of the total 40 parliamentary seats in the state as per the grand alliance (maha Gathbandhan) on March 22.

Bihar will go to polls in seven phases, from April 11 to May 19. The counting of votes will be done on May 23rd.
