RJD disrupted the Bihar Legislative Assembly and the Bihar Legislative Council on 16th March. The disruption pertained to the CBI “foisting” a case Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family.

Deputy CM of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi though made it very clear that no amount of sloganeering could hide the charges of corruption. Reacting to the events in the house, Modi said, “If they feel that their leader Lalu Prasad is being falsely implicated in the case of shady deals, they should move to the court to seek remedy. Shouting of slogans will not conceal the charges of corruption.”

The RJD party members came armed with copies of a newspaper article that said that a regular case was filed by the CBI against Lalu Prasad in the land-for-hotels deal even though the legal wing of the CBI said there was ‘no evidence’ against him. Tejashwi, Lalu’s son has also been accused in the case. Modi said that if they are so sure, Tejashwi should explain how he came to own the land where a mall worth 750 crores was to be constructed, he also implied that if Tejashwi was really innocent he wouldn’t have lost his position as the Deputy CM.

Tejashwi, on the other hand, maintains that this is a matter of ‘political vendetta’. He said, “We have been telling that it was an act of political vendetta. Not only my father was booked in hotel case last year but CBI also named my mother and me. The matter related to the time when I was in my teens.” It really doesn’t matter when the case was filed, it matters whether it is been put to rest or not. One should trust that law will take its own course, these happenings are just the build-up until things come to the surface.
