Lalu Prasad Yadav

Just a few hours ahead of the JD(U)‘s meeting to discuss the future of the grand alliance in Bihar, RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav very tactfully played a political move saying that RJD will not break the alliance. By announcing this he has cleared his party’s intentions that if in future the alliance breaks JDU will be responsible for it and not RJD.

The Grand alliance in Bihar has been going through some tough times after the CBI raids conducted at the premises of Lalu and his family members. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is being pressurised to ask Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav to resign on the grounds of him being accused by the CBI. Nitish being firm to maintain his clean image in the politics said that he will not tolerate any corruption in his government.

Nitish’s decision of supporting the NDA Presidential candidate and attending the GST launch has raised many questions, whether Nitish is planning a back out from the alliance. There are also talks that if JDU decides to break up the alliance BJP might extend its support to the party.

Though, both Lalu and Nitish has assured that the alliance will remain intact, anything could be expected after today’s meeting of Nitish Kumar with his JD(U) legislator.

Ahead of the JDU meeting Lalu also held a meeting, following which he addressed the press saying that there is no question of his son Tejashwi Yadav resigning as the Deputy Cheif Minister and RJD will not break the grand alliance between JD(U)-RJD and Congress. He further added that he had made Nitish the Chief Minister, why will he remove him now, however it is up to Nitish, he can take his call whether he wants to continue with the alliance or break it.

Lalu also accused the media of spreading rumors of a rift between JD(U) and RJD saying that Nitish never demanded Tejashwi’s resignation.

Nitish will chair the JD(U) legislators meet at 5.30 pm on Wednesday in Patna. Most likely the ruling party in Bihar will take a call on the future of the alliance, and Tejashwi’s cabinet position in the government during this meet.
