Samajwadi Party Leader Akhilesh Yadav with RLD Vice President Jayant Chaudhary

Rashtriya Lok vice president Jayant Chaudhary on Wednesday met Samajwadi Party Leader Akhilesh Yadav to discuss the seat-sharing in BSP-SP alliance. The meeting comes days after SP-BSP announced its alliance for the Lok Sabha Polls 2019 in Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, RLD Vice President Jayant Chaudhary said: “It was a good meeting with Akhilesh ji. We held lengthy discussions on seat sharing and
alliance. I feel that we will be successful in our effort.”

Earlier on January 12, the SP and BSP had announced an alliance for the Lok Sabha Polls 2019 on 50:50 seat pact with both parties to contest on 38 each seat. BSP chief Mayawati while addressing Media in a Joint Presser had announced that two seats had been kept aside for smaller parties, while no candidates would be fielded against Congress
President Rahul Gandhi in Amethi and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi in Rae Bareli.

A day ahead of the announcement, RLD president Ajit Singh had said his party will side with the SP-BSP alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

“We had our meeting with Akhilesh Ji. We are a part of the ‘grand alliance’, but we haven’t discussed seats yet,” the RLD president said.‘Forget Differences’: Mayawati calls for SP-BSP unity, slams BJP-Congress in a Birthday address

Earlier on January 9, The Rashtriya Lok Dal has put forward a demand of 6 six out of 80 to field its candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha 2019 Elections. 

RJD UP Chief Masood Ahmed on January 9 said that party has demanded to field its candidate on – Baghpat, Mathura, Muzaffarnagar, Hathras, Amroha and Kairana parliamentary seats. Currently, RJD MP Tabassum Hasan represents Kiarana Parliamentary seats who won the seat last year after it got vacant after BJP MP’s Hukum Singh death.
