Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court on Monday summoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in connection with a defamation case filed by Delhi BJP leader Vijender Gupta. Delhi BJP Leader had filed a defamation case against – Kejriwal and Sisodia – for allegedly accusing him of being involved in the alleged assassination plot of Delhi Chief Minister.
Both the Chief Minister and his Deputy have been summoned by the court on July 16.

‘Arguments addressed on point of summoning the accused persons in the matter of Defamation case filed by me, titled as Vijender Gupta vs. Arvind Kejriwal & others, fixed the matter for orders today at 4 pm in the court of Chief Additional MM Samar Vishal DDU Marg’, tweeted BJP Leader Vijender Gupta earlier in the day.
The Special Court had in June last month recorded the statements of three witnesses including the BJP Leader himself. While recording a statement in the special court, BJP Leader said the fabricated allegations against him by the Chief Minister and his deputy have deeply hurt him.

BACKGROUND
During the Lok Sabha Polls, Kejriwal citing Gupta’s tweet has alleged the Bharatiya Janata Party is planning to get him killed by his own Personal Security Officers’. He made the comment while giving an interview to Punjabi News Channel during the last phase of elections.
Gupta, in his tweet, had said, “Before the slap-gate on May 4, @ArvindKejriwal asked
the liaison officer to lift the security cover from his vehicle. The chief minister’s
instruction is registered in the daily diary entry (of the police). Since I had disclosed
about it, AAP could not get electoral gain of the incident. Out of frustration, Kejriwal says PSO reports to BJP.”
Replying to Vijendra Gupta’s tweet, AAP Chief had said “Why BJP wants to get me killed? What have I done? am I not constructing schools and hospitals for the people of the country.”
He added that ‘This is the first time when a positive politics has started on schools
and hospitals in the country. BJP wants to finish it. But I will fight till my last
breath’.
