SabarimalaThe Kerala High Court on Tuesday ordered that no more protests should be held at the Sabarimala temple during the ongoing pilgrimage season.

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan has met the royal Pandalam family to iron out the differences in the Sabarimala matter and asked the chief priest if they could allocate separate days for women menstruating age of to visit the Lord Ayyappa shrine.

According to the sources, the chief priest did not reject the demand but sought more time for consultation. The royal family also asked Vijayan to allow the Devaswom board to approach SC demanding a stay on the verdict till January 22.

Vijayan urged the devotees to understand the government’s compulsion saying that their beliefs cannot be above the fundamental rights of women. He said, “As a law enforcing land, we don’t have any other way. This is our appeal to devotees.” He added that the government has no prejudice, but was bound by the top court’s order., Stressing that the government is not being rigid in the matter of faith as alleged by the opposition, he said, “The government is with devotees. Will give security to them. There is no need for concern.”
