Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) sitting MP from Ferozpur Sher Singh Ghubaya on Tuesday joined Indian National Congress day after he resigned from Shiromani Akali Dal ahead of General Elections 2019. He joined the Indian National Congress in presence of Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

Punjab Congress chief Sunil Kumar Jakhar, AICC in-charge of Punjab Congress affairs Asha Kumari and Fazilka Congress MLA Davinder Singh Ghubaya were also present during the joining at the residence of the Congress President Residence.

Ghubaya’s relationship with the party has been sour ever since a controversial video clip of his had appeared before the 2017 assembly elections.

Speaking on joining the Congress, Ghubhaya said, “I have left SAD party due to its wrong policies. After Sukhbir Singh Badal took over as party Chief of Shiromani Akali Dal, the system indulged in corruption. He also used to insult the party leaders.”

“My son is a Davinder Singh Ghubaya is MLA from Fazilka, I was in contact with Congress party since then. Punjab Congress leader Asha Kumari suggested me to join Congress
and I will get to fight Lok Sabha elections from Ferozpur,” he added

He also racked up Union Minister and SAD Leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal said She currently represent Bathinda and now she willing to fight from Ferozpur in 2019 polls. She has served Bathinda constituency for the past ten years. And I have been serving Ferozepur for last 20 years.”

Earlier on Monday, He has resigned from Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) who has recently announced its poll tie-up with BJP. As per the seat sharing arrangement, Bhartiya Janta Party will contest on 3 Lok Sabha Seats while Shiromani Akali Dal will field its candidates on remaining 10 Lok Sabha Seats. Punjab has a total of 13 Lok Sabha Seats.
