The Supreme Court on Friday has ordered the Tamil Nadu government not to take any strict actions against the defaulting farmers, who fail to repay the debts due to crop failure.

Dipak Mishra was leading the bench on Friday to hear a Public Interest Litigation seeking court intervention to tackle the recent incidents of farmers suicides in the state. Dipak Mishra is also going to be the next Chief Justice of India, he instructed the Tamil Nadu government to appoint a team, who could ensure that no violent actions are taken against the farmers and to inform the government immediately if any such steps take place. He also said that the government should directly buy the crops from the farmers and avoid any middlemen so that they get remunerative prices for their crops.

The Supreme Court has also ordered the government to take all possible steps to end the distress of the farmers and cooperate with them for not repaying the loans due to crop failure last year.

Tamil Nadu government through Additional Solicitor General PS Narasimha, has agreed to abide by all the orders given by the Supreme court and take all possible steps to curb the distress of the farmers in the state and provide every possible help to them.
