The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a petition seeking an Independent Probe in Pulwama Terror Attack that had on February 14 claimed lives of 40 CRPF Personnel. Top Court Bench led by CJI Ranjan Gogoi comprising Justice Sanjeev Khanna cursorily dismissed the Petition seeking Court directions for setting up a judicial probe in Pulwama Terror Attack.

The Petition filed in the Apex Court wanted a Court ordered Judicial Commission to probe the “role played by Indian Nationals in helping the terrorists from Pakistan in executing the Uri and Pulwama attack”.

The Petition filed by Lawyer Vineet Dhandha sought directions from Court to the Centre to submit ‘Detailed report’ regarding the action taken against the Separatist Leaders including All Party Hurriyat Conference Leaders who are actively participating in anti-national activities’.

The plea stated that 370 Kgs of RDX was used in the Pulwama Terror Attack and it requires a thorough Investigation.

Lawyer Vineet Dhandha also sought Court Direction to freeze all the accounts of All Party Hurriyat Conference Leaders and submit a report listing all the actions taken before the Supreme Court.

It also sought directions from Apex Court to the Central Government to permanently revoked Security Covers given to Separatist Leaders in Jammu and Kashmir. It has sought a National Investigation Agency probe against Conference members against whom “concrete evidence” is found.

Following the Pulwama Terror Attack, The Jammu and Kashmir Administration on February 20 revoked the Security Cover of 18 more Separatist Leaders, 155 Politicians and Activists. As per the Home Department of the state, providing security to these Hurriyat Leaders is a waste of scarce resources which could be better utilize anywhere else.

Earlier to this on February 17, J&K Administration revoked the security covers given to 5 Separatist Leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq days after Pulwama Terror Attack that claimed lived of at least 40 CRPF Personnel. The other four are Shabir Shah, Hashim Qureshi, Bilal Lone, and Abdul Ghani Bhat.

As far as Investigation is concerned, the National Investigation Agency had on February 20 took over Pulwama Terror Attack from Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The NIA who reached Jammu and Kashmir the very next day of the attack has already taken samples of the explosives and evidence from the area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, where a suicide bomber of the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed detonated his explosives-laden vehicle next to the bus carrying the CRPF personnel.
