Amid the ongoing political crisis in Karnataka, The Supreme Court on Monday posted the plea filed by 5 more rebels for tomorrow and said that the plea will be taken up along with a plea filed by 10 rebels earlier.

The Top Court said we would likely hear the case of five rebel MLAs-K Sudhakar, Roshan Baig, MTB Nagaraj, Muniratna and Anand Singh, tomorrow along with the main petition which is pending before us.

Five more Karnataka Congress rebel Karnataka Congress MLAs including Anand Singh and Roshan Baig on Saturday moved Supreme Court against the assembly speaker not accepting their resignations.

Suspended from the party for ‘anti-party’ activities, MLA Roshan Baig on July 9 tendered his resignation from Karnataka Assembly. In his letter to Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar, Lawmaker Roshan Baig stated that he is resigning by his own from MLA post.

While Sudhakar and Nagaraj tendered their resignation on July 10. It should be noted Congress is making efforts to bring back rebels in its fold. Congress Minister DK Shivakumar had on Saturday met MTB Nagaraj and convinced him to continue with the party.

However, after meeting the Congress Minster DK Shivakumar, Nagaraj said he will speak to K Sudhakar Rao and then see what is to be done.

In the meantime, the Supreme Court on Friday ordered Assembly Speaker to maintain status quo in connection with the resignation of 10 rebel MLAs of Congress and JD-S who tendered their resignation on Thursday. The Top Court Bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said that the Court will hear the matter again on Tuesday, July 16.

The 13-months old coalition government suffered a huge setback on Saturday last week when 11 MLAs from CongressJD(S) ruling coalition tendered their resignation. And thereafter political episode and drama started in Karnataka. Later on, many other MLAs also tendered their resignation taking the tally to over 15 till now.
