The National Congress Party has called for an emergency meeting to review the party’s poor performance in Maharashtra in recently held national polls. The meeting which is slated to be held at Sharad Pawar’s residence on June 1, Saturday.
All the senior Leaders have been asked to attend the meeting called to review the shortcomings of the Sharad Pawar-led Party. The party apart from reviewing its bad performance is expected to discuss its future course of action, especially about the coming State Polls in Maharashtra which is slated for November later this year.
The decision to call an emergency meeting came a day after Congress President Rahul Gandhi met Pawar in his residence in the national capital.
NCP Chief, however, said that both he along with Rahul Gandhi held a discussion over the upcoming State Polls in Maharashtra and Drought Situation in the state. Pawar took to twitter and shared the picture of the meet.
He, in a tweet, said, Congress President Mr. @RahulGandhi met up with me today at my residence in Delhi. We discussed matters pertaining to the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha Elections and the drought situation in Maharashtra”.

Both – Congress and NCP – have forged an alliance in the state to national polls. However, the alliance faced a humiliating defeat by the BJP–Shiv Sena combine. In the state that sends 48 MPs to the Lok Sabha Polls, NCP-Congress could only bag 5 Lok Sabha Seats with NCP winning 4 seats while one seat won by the Indian National Congress.
While NCP even failed to score in Maval Lok Sabha Seat from where Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar was making his electoral debut. Ajit Pawar had made Maval Lok Sabha Seat a prestigious battle for the party.
Bharatiya Janata Party along with its ally Shiv Sena swept the polls in Maharashtra by bagging 41 seats out of the total 48 Lok Sabha Seats on the state.
