Tensions increase for former Chief of JD(U) and one of the foundation pillars of the party Sharad Yadav as JD(U) asks him to leave him the membership of Rajya Sabha.

Recently, rebel Sharad has been openly criticising the decision of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of forming the new government in the state in alliance with BJP. The opposition expressed by him may invite some tough days for him from the CM. He has also initiated a three-day interaction programme across Bihar to talk to the people and know their opinion about the new government formed and had sent a senior JD(U) leader Ali Anwar on his behalf to attend the opposition party meet organised by Congress high command Sonia Gandhi on Friday.

Taking into account all the actions of Sharad, JD(U) has also started taking actions against him now. First, the party expelled Ali Anwar for representing Sharad in the opposition meet and then it replaced RCP Singh as the party’s parliamentary leader.

Sharad’s tensions do not seem to end here as it got another jolt from the party asking him to leave the Rajya Sabha membership. JD(U) Spokesperson Ajay Alok in his statement said that if there is some shame left in Sharad, he himself should resign from the membership of the house. On Saturday, the JD(U) had replaced Sharad Yadav as the party’s Rajya Sabha leader electing RCP Singh as the new leader of the party in the Rajya Sabha. This move was considered as an attack on Sharad camp by Nitish camp.

Targeting Sharad, party spokesman Ajay Alok said that, Sharad who is calling the Janta Dal United of the government should not forget the fact that it is because of the 71 MLAs of the party that he is an MP today. He added that if there is some guilt in him he should immediately resign. He added that the saying of Sharad Yadav that mahagathbandhan had got the people’s mandate till 2019 is right but the people had not given its mandate to let corruption prevail in the party.

Significantly, it seems like Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is busy shifting all its opponents before the JDU’s national executive meeting which will be held in the state’s capital Patna on 19 Aug. Kumar’s main objective is to weaken Sharad Yadav on the party platform. If Sharad does not attend the executive meeting then he is being considered to be removed from the party.

Meanwhile, Sharad was on a three-day public interaction programme across Bihar from 10-12 Aug to gather the views and opinions of the people on the new government. During his three day tour, he visited 7 districts and spoke to the people and tried to read their minds on various issues. He told the people that those supporting Nitish are only with him for their selfish reasons. He said that the party that is under the leadership of Nitish Kumar is the Janta Dal United of the government, working with selfish motives for the government only. Talking about his camp Sharad said that people supporting my camp are the people who are connected to the public and concerned about public service. He added that “the Janta Dal United under my leadership is the party of the people and the party for the people not for the government.”

It is being considered that Sharad Yadav is likely to make his own party in alliance with RJD and Congress after splitting up from Nitish Kumar led JD(U). RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has clearly stated that his alliance with Sharad Yadav-led JDU will continue. Sharad Yadav has convened a meeting at his residence in Delhi, inviting all the like minded leaders who are in his support. It is believed that the opposition in this meeting can be united against the Modi government and it may be the beginning of the central alliance for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
