After Nitish Kumar broke off with RJD and joined hands with BJP, there were rumors that senior party member Sharad Yadav may quit the party. However, the possibility of him leaving the party is not in the question anymore.

Sharad was very upset with Kumar’s move and said that he did not expect Nitish to break the grand alliance so soon. He chose to remain silent not giving any opinion about the new alliance of JD(U) and BJP but his opposition to Kumar’s decision could be seen clearly. While he skipped the oath taking ceremony of Nitish Kumar on Thursday, he also held meetings with Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi to talk about the Kumar’s decision.

It was expected that, Kumar breaking up with RJD and joining BJP would invite some opposition from few members of the party. A few JD(U) leaders, including Rajya Sabha MPs Ali Anwar, Veerendra Kumar and Sharad Yadav sounded rebellious, but during the course of the day, the party managed to pacify their opposition.

There were possibilities that Sharad might quit the party and along with him take away his trusted lawmakers of the Muslim and Yadav members of JD(U). But according to JD(U) sources, Sharad and Kumar had a telephonic conversation on Thursday and the latter successfully convinced Sharad that the new alliance was in the favor of the party.  JD(U) sources also claimed that a senior central minister, who is known for his strong ties with Yadav, was in continuous touch with him and managed to persuade him that the alliance with RJD was a mismatch.

Sharad’s idea of quitting the party and rebelling against JD(U) is pacified for the time being.
