Today, Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also addressed the media on the matter. He said that the decision taken in the case was the collective responsibility of the government. How can a single person be targeted for it?
Speaking to the media, Manmohan Singh said, “If the officers are not at fault, it is beyond our comprehension how the Minister who simply approved the recommendation can be accused of committing an offense. If the Minister is liable for approving a recommendation, the whole system of government will collapse.”
Former PM Manmohan Singh issues a press statement: We are concerned with continued detention in custody of our colleague P Chidambaram. In our system of government, no decision can be taken by any single person. All decisions are collective decisions recorded in files. (file pic) pic.twitter.com/WkxVSLbKn8

On the previous day, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh along with Karti Chidambaram visited the Tihar Jail to see P Chidambaram. P Chidambaram was arrested on August 21 by the investigative agencies on his alleged involvement to the INX media case.
Expressing his gratitude to the gesture of party leaders, P Chidambaram thanked his visitors over social media.
I have asked my family to tweet on my behalf the following:
I am honoured that Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Dr. Manmohan Singh called on me today.
As long as the @INCIndia party is strong and brave, I will also be strong and brave.
