DPCC Chief and Senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit, along with State Party workers will hold a demonstration outside Rahul Gandhi’s residence on Wednesday. Former CM Sheila Dixit will be requesting Gandhi not to resign from party’s top post after poll debacle in recently held national polls.

As reported by ANI, The demonstration led by DPCC Chief will start at 4 pm outside the Gandhi’s Tughlak Lane residence. Earlier on Tuesday, Congress Delhi Unit released a statement urging Rahul Gandhi not to resign.

In the meantime, Congress workers in Karnataka on Wednesday demonstrated outside party office urging Rahul Gandhi to continue as Congress President.

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee will also pass a resolution asking Gandhi not to step down.

Earlier on Tuesday, Congress’s Tamil Nadu ally MK Stalin had a phone conversation with Rahul Gandhi and asked him to continue as the party president.

Gandhi had offered to step down from his post at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting held on Saturday. Reportedly despite the CWC rejected his resignation, now an MP from Wayanad Rahul Gandhi is said to be unfazed.

Many Senior Leaders have tried to convince him and requested him not to tender resignation. Leaders believed that the party cannot afford to have a new leader at the core at this time to build party organizationally.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot on Tuesday met Congress President Rahul Gandhi in his residence in the national capital.

The Congress had on Saturday held its Working Committee meeting to discuss the reasons responsible for its poor performance in the recently held national polls 2019. Rahul Gandhi taking moral responsibility of defeat had on Saturday offered his resignation and ask party leaders to get a new name for party president post.

The Congress faced a humiliating defeat in national polls and won 52 seats, which is only 8 more than it got in 2014 national polls. It has also lost some of its strongholds across the country including Rahul Gandhi’s Amethi in Uttar Pradesh and Jyotiraditya Scindia‘s Guna in Madhya Pradesh.
