Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) Chief Sheila Dixit on Wednesday met Delhi Chief Miniter Arvind Kejriwal at his Official residence in the national capital. Both the bigwigs discussed the electricity and water problem in the national capital.

Three-time Chief Minister, Dixit, 81, was accompanied by many other senior Leaders of the party.

Sheila Dixit had on Saturday accused Kejriwal-led AAP Delhi government responsible for the hike in the fixed charge of the Electricity. Dixit accused the government of wooing people living in a rented house to have their separate power meters, after which the DERC (Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission) hiked the fixed charges in a move to provide profits to the companies.

Congress had demanded that the AAP government should write-off people’s electricity bill for the next six months.

Reacting on the meeting between Sheila Dixit and Arvind Kejriwal, AAP Spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj said, ‘In the year 2013, when Arvind Kejriwal went to meet the then CM Sheila Dikshit to discuss the electricity issue, she didn’t meet him’.

‘But today, Chief Minister Kejriwal listed to Sheila Ji,” AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said.

Bharadwaj who was also present in the meeting between the two rivals later tweeted. He said, ‘Congress delegation was provided fact-sheet at CM house. @SheilaDikshit left embarrassed when she found that 2019 rates under AK are still half of what she charged. That too after 6 yrs’.

Earlier, Congress Delhi Unit on Tuesday directed its Block and District President in Delhi to form a panel of 3 probable candidates from each assembly of which one should be a woman. Assembly Polls in Delhi is slated for February 2020.

DPCC Chief and Former Chief Minister Sheila Dixit directed all the office bearers at District and Block level to submit the name of probables by June 22. Including one woman in three names means that out of all the names that will come up, 33% will be women.

The Decision is seen as an attempt to reach out to women voters in the national capital for State Polls. The move comes days after AAP Chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced his plans to provide free rides to women in Delhi Metro and DTC Buses in Delhi.

In the recently held national polls, Congress faced a humiliating defeat in Delhi too and lost all 7 Lok Sabha Seats. However, it is eyeing to make a comeback in the upcoming state polls in the national capital, once a stronghold of the grand old party.
