Triggering a whole new set of speculations and political permutations, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said that Chief of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh), Mohan Bhagwat will be a good bet for the next President. He was quoted saying that President is the highest post in the country and political parties should make sure that someone with a clean image is made the President. He also added that Mohan Bhagwat’s term as RSS Chief has been bold and clean and if India is to made a Hindu Rashtra, he will be the best option to be promoted for the highest post.
Sanjay Raut also clarified that he was not putting the stand of Shiv Sena on the matter and that the final decision to extend support for presidential election will be taken by the party chief, Uddhav Thackeray.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is hosting a dinner to discuss about the strategy of upcoming presidential polls, while being asked on whether Sanjay Raut or Uddhav Thackeray will be a part of the event, Raut jokingly said that great food is cooked at Matoshree (residence of Shiv Sena chief) as well. He further added that in last 2 presidential elections, the candidates had come to Matoshree to meet Balasaheb Thackeray to seek support. This time as well, we are open to discussions.
