Shivpal’s SSM to fight from all 80 UP Lok Sabha seats in 2019 General Elections

Shivpal Yadav, estranged leader of Samajwadi Party (SP) and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s uncle who formed his own outfit Samajwadi Secular Morcha(SSM) earlier this week, has declared on Friday that his newly formed party will contest 2019 Lok Sabha elections from all the 80 Lok Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh, reported PTI.

SSM founder Shivpal Yadav told the reporters in Baghpat, “We will be tying up with smaller parties and unite those neglected and humiliated and contest the polls with full strength. Without our support no government will be formed at the centre”, PTI quoted him. He claimed that his outfit will perform well in the next assembly elections in UP.

“We will emerge as a strong party in the 2022 assembly polls,” Shivpal Yadav said.

There has been bad blood between the uncle and nephew since Akhilesh Yadav took the reins of SP in his hand. After becoming the President of SP, Akhilesh removed Shivpal from the post of state unit president.

Shivpal Yadav floated his own outfit SSM on August 29, citing negligence in SP as one of the main reasons. Though he is still an SP legislator. He had said, he is forming a new party as “senior leaders were being insulted and ignored in the Samajwadi Party for some time”.

SSM chief also told the reporters on Friday, “Our journey has started and it will not stop,” adding that he was “humiliated in the SP on many occasions”.

Hindustan Times reported, Shivpal Yadav’s statements come a mere hours after his elder brother and SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav claimed at the SP office in Lucknow that, “The party and the family are one.”
