While addressing the reporters, AICC spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said that the government was deliberately targeting the opposition leaders by carrying out the ‘witch hunts’. While referring to the raids and searches conducted on P Chidambarum and his son and Lalu Prasad Yadav and his daughter, he said that the government is being ‘selective and opportunistic’.
Singhvi also mentioned that, Enforcement Directorate and the CBI had initiated prosecution proceedings against 34 political leaders out which, 30 leaders were of the opposition party. He demanded to know that why no prosecutions were taken forward against the BJP leaders in scams like VYAPAM and GSPL.
He further questioned the government that why no actions were taken against former BJP minister and mining baron G Janardhan Reddy who spent around Rs 500 crore on his daughter’s wedding.
He accused the government of targeting only the opposition leaders and refraining itself from taking action against its own leaders.
