Bharatiya Janata Party sitting MP from Delhi North West Udit Raj on Wednesday joined Indian National Congress, a day after BJP in a run-up to the polls replaced him. Raj joined the Congress after meeting with party president Rahul Gandhi.

Raj has been replaced by the Bharatiya Janata Party with Sufi Singer Hansraj Hans for mega polls 2019. Udit had joined Bharatiya Janata Party days before national elections 2014. He had in last polls defeated AAP’s Rakhi Bidlan with over 1 lakh votes.

Earlier on Tuesday, Sitting MP from North West Delhi Dr. Udit Raj had threatened to resign from the BJP if denied a ticket. He has filed his nomination as an Independent candidate from the parliamentary seat.

‘I have joined Congress today, thank you Rahul Gandhi ji’, said BJP sitting MP Raj.

Speaking to a TV Channel, Raj said ‘ I was among the most famous MPs in the national capital, party internal survey even claimed this. I raised the voices for Dalits and will continue to do’ added Raj.

Raj, hours after replaced with Hansraj dropped word ‘chowkidaar’ from his twitter handle. He had on Tuesday took to Twitter and tweeted and raised why the name was announced last day of the nominations.

The party in Delhi has already announced its candidates on all 7 candidates in Delhi fielding Dr. Harshvardhan from Chandni Chowk, Manoj Tiwari from North East,  Gautam Gambhir from East and Meenakshi Lekhi from New Delhi Lok Sabha Seat, among others.

Lok Sabha Polls 2019 has already begun and would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Phase-III Voting is currently underway

Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting. BJP in Delhi will be taking on Aam Aadmi Party and Congress. All 7 seats of Delhi will vote on May 12. Tuesday is the last day to file nominations.
