Congress Parliamentary Party Leader Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday chaired a meeting of party’s parliament Strategy group. Gandhi discussed the plans and finalize the strategy for the ongoing Parliament Session.

Sources believed that the party deliberate upon the common agenda to coordinate with other opposition parties on the floor.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi was also present in the meeting which was attended many top brasses of the party. Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma, AK Antony, Jairam Ramesh, P Chidambaram, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, K Suresh were among those were present in the meeting.

Speaking to media after the meeting, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that Ghulam Nabi Azad briefed everyone about the discussion held in the all-party meeting on Sunday. ‘We also held discussions over various key issues related to the ongoing parliament session and we will also hold discussions with other opposition parties to coordinate with a common plan to corner the government in Parliament.

Replying on a query about the party leader in Lok Sabha, Ranjan Chowdhury said that there is no discussion over the appointment of Leader of Lok Sabha.

However, sources claimed that the announcement about the name of the Speaker will only be done after the election of Lok Sabha Speaker slated for June 19. As the Parliamentary Party Leader, Sonia Gandhi has the utmost authority of appointing a Party Leader of the Lower House of the Parliament.

In the recently held national polls, Congress won 52 Lok Sabha Seats which is 2 short of 10% strength, to stake a claim for Leader of Opposition.
