Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana state, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh are set to campaign for the party.

It is expected that the two leaders will join the campaigning race in the last leg of the assembly elections.  According to the confirmed reports, Sonia Gandhi will address a rally in Haryana‘s Mahendragarh district. Meanwhile, Manmohan Singh will address a press conference on October 17 in Mumbai.

Sources said that the inclusion of Manmohan Singh in the campaign has been a significant step for the party since he will be useful in cornering the ruling BJP government on the matters if economic slowdown. Manmohan Singh has been a strong vocal critic of the Narendra Modi government for its economic policies.

Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had also joined the Maharashtra campaign on Sunday. Picking up his battle, the leader has started addressing rallies. Following the debacle of the party in the Lok Sabha elections of 2019, Rahul Gandhi had stepped away from his active politics for a while, but his kickstart for the Maharastra campaign has refueled the ambitions of the grand old party.
