Sonia Gandhi steps up reorganisation efforts; to announce new chiefs of Congress state units soon

Recently selected Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi is expected to announce new names for some of the chief positions in her party across states. It is said that she is considering appointing new leaders and overhaul the structure of the existing structure of the party.

Sonia Gandhi had a meeting regarding this with her party members in Maharashtra on Friday. With the onset of upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand, Haryana, Delhi, and Maharashtra the party is expected to gear up for the polls.

Since the moment, Sonia Gandhi took over the reins of Congress Party, she has started holding meetings to review the party’s preparations in states that are slated to go for polls soon. On the same line, She held a meeting in Jharkhand on Wednesday. Gandhi is also expected to have a discussion with party in-charge of Haryana and Maharashtra in the next few days.

It is said that the party will soon announce the name of Presidents in Jharkhand, Goa, and Karnataka. Haryana which is a contentious affair for Congress’s decision is said to have found a common ground, thus resolving the issue.

Congress is currently facing a political turmoil in its party functioning, especially after an embarrassing defeat in Lok Sabha elections of 2019. Furthermore, Its active president Rahul Gandhi abdicated his chair after the defeat that left the party in lurch. Congress party is also experiencing rising defection instances from its members all over the states.
