Congress Parliamentary Leader and MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday opposed the Centre’s move to ‘privatize’ the Modern Coach Factory located at her Lok Sabha constituency.

Raising the issue during the Zero Hour of the Lok Sabha, Congress Stalwart Sonia Gandhi opposed the proposed move saying that it will create uncertainty among the employees and their families.

She further asserted that not only the issue of employees but also it is against the idea of which the coach factory was set up. She further said that it is unfortunate that the BJP-led Centre choose the Rae Bareli’s Modern Coach Factory for the experiment.

Further slamming the BJP, Sonia Gandhi said, ‘It is very sad and unfortunate that not even employees were taken into confidence. The move puts the life of employees and their families into danger.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Sonia Gandhi said, ‘The Factory was set up by the UPA Government and is the most modern plant which makes the good quality coaches at the cheapest cost. Further raising her voice against the privatization, Gandhi said, it will lead to priceless assets going to the private hands at a very cheap price.

Gandhi further said, ‘I request this BJP-Led Government to protect this modern coach factory and other PSUs’. ‘Have Some respect for farmers and labors’, she added.

In her speech in Lok Sabha, she also raised concern over the condition of some PSUs including BSNL, MTNL, and HAL. ‘There condition is visible to Everyone’, she said.

She also shared her displeasure over the Government’s move of merging Union Budget with the Railway Budget.

The Congress faced a crushing defeat in national polls and won 52 seats, which is only 8 more than it got in 2014 national polls. It has also lost some of its strongholds across the country including Rahul Gandhi’s Amethi in Uttar Pradesh and Jyotiraditya Scindia‘s Guna in Madhya Pradesh.

It had only managed to won a single seat – Sonia Gandhi‘s Rae Bareli – out of the 80 Lok Sabha Seats of the state. It had got 6.3% vote share from Uttar Pradesh.
